Richard Keith Curtis Hammond was the son of Herbert and Elizabeth Florence Hammond of Rothley Plain.
He served with the 377 Battery 44 Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery (4th Battalion Leics. Regiment).
He is reported to have been killed in a tragic accident whilst cleaning a gun on the 18th November 1940. His death was registered in East Elloe, Lincs.

He is buried in St Leonard's Churchyard, Swithland.
