He was the son of Arthur Edward Burman a stone quarry engine driver, born 1870 in Westbury, Bucks., and his wife Mary Jane, born 1871 in Earl Shilton, Leics. William Henry was born in 1897 in Stoney Stanton, Leics., his siblings were, Charles Edward, born 1892 in Stoney Stanton, Leics., Walter John, born 1894 and Herbert Thomas, born 1894, the latter two siblings were both born in Earl Shilton, Leics., Percy, born 1895, Horace, born 1899 and Robert Edwin, born 1901, the latter three siblings were all born in Stoney Stanton, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Highfield Street, Stoney Stanton, Leics. In April 1911 William was employed as an errand boy and was residing in the family home at Huncote Road, Stoney Stanton, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Charles, Walter, Herbert, Percy, Horace, Robert, Annie Elizabeth, born 1903, John, born 1904, Lilian Mary, born 1908 and Harriett Ethel, born 1910, the latter four siblings were all born in Stoney Stanton, Leics.
