Son of Martin and Nellie Louisa Butler, of Rothley.

He was killed whilst serving with 201 Squadron at Sullom Voe, Shetlands on the 11/08/1941.

At the time of his death he was one of the crew of Shorts Sunderland ll W3978 ZM-X which crashed on returning from an Anti-Submarine Patrol.
