ContributeStained glass window featuring St Alban (Britain's first Christian martyr, d.AD304) and associated brass plaque with inscription in black, unveiled in 1920 by Lt Col Tom Booth, DSO of Gracedieu Manor. The website below on the history of the church states that the window was originally going to be dedicated to Theophilus Jones, headmaster of Thringstone school, who was killed by the German bombardment of Hartlepool December 1914, making him the first British soldier killed on active service on home soil in almost 200 years and consequently the first such casualty of WW1. By the end of WW1 another 26 men had died and the window was dedicated to them all.
