Bronze figure of peace with laurel wreath on head, surmounting octagonal shaft on three tiered base and reaching towards stone screen wall with 6 WW1 bronze tablets flanking carved cross above 3 WW2 tablets. Names originally displayed in Gas Office window so that relatives could check them before they were placed on the memorial. Land cost 669 pounds; memorial and statue cost 1597 pounds 6s; other fees also for e.g. landscaping - total raised 3495 pounds 3s. 10d; local Boy Scouts given 171 pounds 13s. 6d which was left over. Foundation stone laid Saturday 12 November 1921 by Mrs Attenborough, Mrs Dixon and Mrs Orton (all lost sons in the war); unveiled Saturday 20 May 1922 by Colonel RE Martin CMG; dedicated by Bishop of Peterborough. Three further tablets added since arranged on flanking walls post 2005 (post 1945 plaque added 2007).
