Serviceman resting reversed rifle surmounting tall square plinth bearing inscription. Carrara marble statue; Bishopgate reconstructed limestone base. It was originally proposed that the memorial should be in St Catherine's Churchyard but this caused much disagreement. Cost 460 pounds (ordered from Italy at cost price); unveiled Saturday 26 February 1921 by Lieutenant Colonel CH Jones CMG TD; dedicated by Revd RDH Pughe, Rector of Burbage. WW2 plaque unveiled 24 October 1948 by Lord Cromwell DSO MC, Patron of the Leicestershire and Rutland Branch of the British Legion; service led By Rector Rev Pughe. Cleaned and new gates erected in 1999 for event on 24th November. 90th anniversary of unveiling Saturday 26th February 2011 included service held in front of memorial and exhibition at St Catherine's Church.
