He was the son of William Buck a coal miner, born 1862 in Measham, Leics., and his wife Hannah Maria, born 1862 in Measham, Leics. Joseph Wileman Buck was born in 1897 in Measham, Leics., his siblings were, John A., born 1882, Florence, born 1883, Alice, born 1886, Alfred, born 1888, William, born 1890, Emma, born 1893, George F., born 1895 and Bertie, born 1899, all his siblings were born in Measham, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at High Street, Noble Row, Measham, Leics. In April 1911 Joseph was employed as a coal miner and was residing in the family home at Bosworth Road, Measham, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, William, Emma, George, Bertie and Lily, born 1905 in Measham, Leics.
