He was the son of Alfred Armstrong an Agricultural Labourer, Cottager and Carrier, born 1859 in Burton Coggles, Lincolnshire and his wife Mary, born 1861 in Stathern, Leicestershire. George Thomas was born in 1885 in Sewstern, Leicestershire, his siblings were Mary E., born 1880, Harry, born 1888, Fred, born 1878, Ellen A., born 1890, William born 1892, Sydney, born 1894, Cecil, born 1896, Dorothy L., born 1898 and Albert, born 1900 all his siblings were born in Sewstern, Leicestershire. In April 1891 the family home was at 2, Stamford Road, Gunby, Lincolnshire. In March 1901 George was employed as a Carter on a Farm and was residing in the family home at Main Street, Sewstern, Leicestershire. George was the husband of Lillie Armstrong.
