He was the son of George H. Barsby a Domestic Coachman, born 1850 in Lyndon, Rutland and his wife Hannah, born 1854 in Ketton, Rutland. Charles was born in 1884 at Knaith, Lincolnshire he had one sibling, a sister Florence A., born 1881 in Ketton, Rutland. In April 1881 the family home was at Coachmans Cottage, Main Street, Ketton, Rutland. In March 1901 Charles was employed as a Domestic House Boy and was residing with his widowed mother at High Street, Ketton, Rutland. In April 1911 Charles was employed as a Domestic Gardener and was residing as a boarder at Ketton, Rutland. He later married and became the husband of Agnes M. Barsby residing at St. Cuthbert’s Stables, Leicester. Charles enlisted in the North Staffordshire Regiment, and after training embarked for France in January 1917. He was killed by a bullet during the third Battle of Ypres.
