He was the son of Mrs Ann E. Coleman, born 1852 in Ketton, Rutland. Arthur was born in 1891 in Ketton Rutland. In 1891 he was residing with his mother at Water Street, Ketton, Rutland. In March 1901 Arthur was residing at High Street, Ketton, Rutland with his widowed aunt. In April 1911 Arthur was employed as a Farm Labourer and was living with his widowed aunt at Stamford, Lincolnshire. Arthur embarked for Mesopotamia on 2nd September 1917, and he died from the wounds received in action.
