KENNETH THEODORE BRIGGS
Midshipman, Royal Naval Reserve
b. 1921 - Shardlow, Derbyshire
d. 14 May 1940 – HMS Wivern
HMS Wivern operated in the North Sea during 1939 and into 1940. She was damaged by enemy air attack whilst taking part in Operation Ordnance, the evacuation of the Hook of Holland. It was during this action that he was killed.
Son of Charles H. and Edith Okell Briggs, of Lyme Regis.
He was buried at sea and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, panel 44, column 1, the St Marys War Memorial, Queniborough, Leicestershire and also on the Lyme Regis War Memorials in the Parish Church and in the town.
