He was the son of William Webster of Pebble Hall, Theddingworth, Leicestershire, and his wife, Sarah of Sarum, Queensland, Australia. He was known as Tom. His enlistment documents record that he gave his trade or calling as Grazier and his next of kin as his father, William Webster of Pebble Hall, Theddingworth, Leicestershire, England. He stated that he was unmarried. Information taken from his medical examination shows that he was 5 foot 9 inches in height, weighed 150 pounds and had a chest measurement of 35 to 38 inches. His complexion was described as fresh with brown eyes and black hair. He gave his religion as Protestant. His record of service gives the following information. Service number 328. 21st December 1914 embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia aboard A34 “Persic.” 16th May 1915 proceeded to join the 5th Regiment Australian Light Horse, M.E.F. in Gallipoli, Turkey. 14th November 1915 he was promoted temporary Corporal vice O’Connor. 17th December 1915, Maadi, Egypt he was promoted Corporal. 25th December 1915 he disembarked at Alexandria, Egypt from H.T. “Beltana.” 4th March 1916 he was promoted Sergeant and joined his unit at Serapeum, Egypt. 23rd November 1916 he was promoted temporary Squadron Sergeant Major vice Waldeck at Hod-el-Batar, Egypt. 1st January 1917 at Ce’eila he was promoted to Warrant Officer II Class, Squadron Sergeant Major. 13th April 1917 at Weli Sheikh Noran he was promoted 2nd Lieutenant. 13th July 1917 at Marakeb he was promoted Lieutenant. 19th August 1917 he left for rest camp at Marakeb. 29th August 1917 he returned from rest camp at Marakeb. 4th September 1917 he proceeded to Imperial School of Instruction, Zeitoun, Egypt. 18th September he rejoined his unit at Kazar from the Imperial School of Instruction. 27th September at Zeitoun, Egypt attended as a Qualified Instructor on the 30th Hotchkiss Course. 7th November 1917 he was wounded in action whilst leading a charge of his Squadron, suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen. 8th November 1917 he died of his wounds in 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance, he was buried by Chaplain J. Boardman in Grave 328. bearing from Sheria 400 yards east of railway and 400 yards south east of railway station of Klum Armadat on bank of a little wadi.
