Jack was the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Hardy and the husband of Audrey Phyllis Hardy of Lubenham. He had a son, named Keith.

His death was reported in the Market Harborough Advertiser on the 4th February 1944:
'Lubenham Soldier Killed in Action'

News has been received of the death of L/Cpl Jack Hardy, killed in action whilst serving in the Indian theatre of war. He was the husband of Mrs Audrey Hardy, daughter of Mr and Mrs CE Foskett, of Lubenham.'
