Charles was born in 1900 in Kibworth, Leicestershire, his siblings were Louisa, born 1881 in Humberstone, Leicester, George Henry, born 1885 in Leicester, Florrie, born 1889, Lizzie, born 1892, Mary Ann, born 1894, Sarah Jane, born 1896, Joseph, born 1898 and Lavinia Ellen, born 1902, the latter six siblings were all born in Fleckney, Leicestershire. In March 1901 the family home was at Saddington Road, Fleckney, Leicestershire. In April 1911 the family home was at Gladstone Street Extension, Fleckney, Leicestershire.
