He was the son of William and Lucy Ann Page. His younger brother Ernest Henry fell in action two days before him. The 1911 census records for Gilberts Row, Market Harborough, Leics. William Page, head of the family and married 28 years, a Shoe Finisher, born 1860 in Kingsthorp, Northants., and his wife Lucy Ann, a Corset Hand Machinist, born 1860 in Market Harborough, Leics., also Charles Marina, son, single and a Corset Hand Overlocker, born 1886 in Northampton, Frederick William, son, single and a Glue Works Labourer, born 1887 in Market Harborough, Leics. and Ernest Henry, son, single and a Corset Hand String Hand, born 1890 in Northampton. The War Diary for today records. BAZENTIN LE PETIT WOOD. The day was quick except a few shells on the strong point during the afternoon and evening. The Battalion was relieved by the 10th YORKSHIRE REGT. at 10.00pm. It was raining, and the route was very bad. The enemy was dropping gas shells into MAMETZ WOOD which had no effect except that gas helmets were put on. The Battalion bivouacked for the night near FRICOURT WOOD.
