He was the son of Joseph and Martha Madelin. The 1911 census records for 60, St. Mary's Road, Market Harborough, Leics. Joseph Madelin, head of the family and married 22 years, a Permanent Way Inspector, born 1857 in Bulkington, Warwks., and his wife Martha, born 1856 in Bulkington, Warwks., also Hilda, daughter, single and a School Teacher, born 1891, Thomas, son, single and a Goods Clerk, born 1892 and Evelyn, daughter, single and a Junior Clerk, born 1894, all the children were born in Rugby, Warwks.
