He was the son of Edgar Sanders Buswell a railway signalman, born 1872 in Foxton, Leics., and his wife Annie Jane, born 1870 in Foxton, Leics. Thomas Edgar was born in 1892 in Foxton, Leics., his siblings were, Ivy Blanche, born 1894 in Dronfield, Derbys., and Alfred Lionel, born 1898 in Rotherham, Yorks., in March 1901 the family home was at 102, Hope Street, Rotherham, Yorks. In April 1911 Thomas was employed as an apprentice bricklayer and was residing in the family home of his maternal grandparents, Thomas Tebbatt a sweet shop owner and outdoor beer licencee, born 1838 in Lubenham, Leics., and his wife Sarah Ann, born 1839 in Desborough, Northants., their home being at Foxton, Leics.
