He was the son of John Burditt a grazier and grocer, born 1855 in Church Brampton, Northants., and his wife Ann, born 1860 in Wilbarston, Northants. Charles William was born in 1882 in Wilbarston, Northants., his siblings were Leonard John, born 1878, Thomas Bertram, born 1881 and Beatrice Ann, born 1887, all his siblings were born in Wilbarston, Northants., in April 1891 the family home was at The Post Office, Ashley Road, Wilbarston, Northants. In March 1901 Charles was employed as a blacksmith’s apprentice and was residing in the family home at Main Street, Wilbarston, Northants, together with his widowed father and siblings, Leonard and Beatrice, also residing with the family was his maternal aunt Mary E. Gulliver, born 1861 in Wilbarston, Northants. In April 1911 Charles was employed as a shoeing smith and was residing as a boarder at 27, Station Road, Great Bowden, Leics.
