He was the son of Peter Bennett, an agricultural labourer, born 1842 in Little Staughton, Beds., and his late wife, Eliza Bennett (nee Colgrave, married q4 1862 in Bedfordshire), born 1845 in Colmworth, Beds. Archibald was born on the 19/5/1888 in Little Barford, Beds., his siblings were, Alfred, an agricultural labourer, born 1866 in Wilden, Beds., Clara, born 1874, Sophia, born 1876, Samuel, a schoolboy, born 1880, Edwin, a schoolboy, born 1882, Louisa, a schoolgirl, born 1884 and Peter, a schoolboy, born 1887, the latter six siblings were all born in Little Barford, Beds., in April 1891 the family home was at Little Barford, Beds. In March 1901 Archibald was residing in the family home at St. Neots Road, Little Barford, Beds., together with his father and siblings, Alfred, an agricultural labourer, Sophie and Peter, an agricultural labourer. Archibald enlisted on the 23rd June 1917 and embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force on the 18th October 1917, joining his unit, the Nelson Battalion on the 13th November 1917 and serving until the 28th December 1917, when he reported sick and was admitted to the Field Ambulance. He rejoined the Nelson Battalion on the 4th January 1918 and died from multiple gun shot wounds in the 9th General Hospital at Rouen, France on the 19th January 1918.
