He was the son of Arthur Brown a brick maker, born 1841 in Marston Trussell, Northants., and his wife Harriet, born 1845 in Saxmundham, Suffolk. Silvester was born in 1875 in Foxton, Leics., his siblings were, Clara R., born 1868 in Saddington, Leics., Albert V., born 1871, Gertrude, born 1873, Lilian E., born 1877 and Corbett, born 1880, the latter four siblings were all born in Foxton, Leics., also residing with the family was his maternal aunt, Rachael Page, born 1843 in Kelsall, Suffolk, in April 1881 the family home was at Foxton, Leics. In April 1891 Silvester was employed as a brick maker and was residing in the family home at Foxton, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Lilian and Corbett. In March 1901 Silvester was employed as a railway porter and was residing as a boarder at 20, Gordon Street, Coventry, Warwks. In April 1911 Silvester was employed as a carpenter and was residing in the family home at Foxton, Leics., together with his wife of thirteen years, Lucy a sub postmistress, born 1873 in Twyford, Leics., and their children, Clarence, born 1899, Dorothy E. M., born 1908 and Grace E., born 1911, all the children were born in Foxton, Leics.
