He was the son of Thomas Clarke a farm labourer, born 1841 in Wymeswold, Leics., and his wife Sarah, born 1848 in Wymeswold, Leics. Thomas was born in 1891 in Wymeswold, Leics., his siblings were, Ann E., born 1880, Amos, born 1883, Lucy, born 1884, Sally, born 1885 and Ruth, born 1888, all his siblings were born in Wymeswold, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at East Street, Wymeswold, Leics. In March 1901 Thomas was a scholar and was residing in the family home at East Street, Wymeswold, Leics., together with his father, now a grazier and farm labourer, his mother and sister Sally. In April 1911 Thomas was employed as a coal dealer and was residing in the family home at Stockwell Street, Wymeswold, Leics., together with his parents and niece, Lois Clarke, born 1906 in Wymeswold, Leics. In the April, May, June quarter of 1911, Thomas married Emma Bexon in the Loughborough, Leicestershire marriage registration district.
