Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son in law of Mr and Mrs Stanton of Whitwell, Rutland, and the husband of Ada Sophia Lloyd, he left three children. He was a fine athlete, particularly in football and boxing, in the latter pastime winning more than one welter weight competition. At the outbreak of war he embarked for Belgium on the 14th August 1914 and was killed by a shell near Ypres.
