He was the son of John and Selina Cannam. Harry Oscar was born in 1878 in Whetstone, Leics. In the April, May, June quarter of 1911, Harry married Clara H. Randle in the Blaby, Leicestershire marriage registration district. The War Diary for today records. The enemy pushed our troops from ridge between HOLLEBEKE and WYTSCHAETE and succeeded in taking ST. ELOI, as there were no troops on the right of A Company in GHQ 1 line Officer Commanding 6th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT sent up D Company to fill up the gap on the right. The Composite Brigade still held VOORMEZEELE. The Corps outpost line is to be withdrawn tonight. 7th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT then become Brigade Reserve. Casualties during the day were other ranks 6 killed, 12 wounded, 8 missing, 3 gassed. Total 29.
