Son of Joseph and Margaret Elizabeth Yeates, of Syston, Leicestershire.

Able Seaman Jack Yeates was a crew member of HMS Hood around 1940 and survived the sinking of HMS Repulse on the 10th December 1941. He is recorded as missing, presumed killed (MPK) on the 9th March 1942, at HMS Sultan naval base, Singapore.
His name is recorded on a family memorial headstone located in Syston Cemtery.

Able Seaman torpedoman Jack Yeates born 8th November 1921, enlisted 1937. Served on HMS Ark Royal;HMS Courageous and HMS Repulse. Reported Missing, Killed In Action, 9 March 1942 during evacuation of Singapore.
worked at the factory of H. Garner & Sons,Syston, before enlisting.
