He was the son of John Bell an Iron Foundry Worker, born 1851 in Sheffield, Yorks., and his wife Annie M., born 1851 in Sheffield, Yorks. Edgar was born in 1889 in South Wigston, Leics., his siblings were Albert H., born 1872, Emma A., born 1874, Florence F., born 1877 and John, born 1880, the latter four siblings were all born in Sheffield, Yorks., in April 1891 the family home was at Ruby Villas, Healey Street, Wigston Magna, Leics. In March 1901 Edgar was residing in the family home at York Villas, Saffron Lane, Marstown Terrace, Glen Parva, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Florence, John and Mabel, born 1895 in South Wigston, Leics., in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. Thomas the Apostle. In April 1911 Edgar was serving as a Driver with the 92nd Battery, Royal Field Artillery and was stationed at Trimulgherry, Deccan, India. Edgar died whilst at sea.
