He was the son of Eli Breed a news agent, born 1852 in Stafford and his wife Annie, born 1864 in Mountsorrel, Leics. Walter was born in 1892 in Mountsorrel, Leics., his siblings were Arthur, born 1890, May Eliza, born 1895, the latter two siblings were both born in Mountsorrel, Leics., Ada, born 1898 and Maggie, born 1900, the latter two siblings were both born in Sileby, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at King Street, Sileby, Leics. In April 1911 Walter was employed in cutting out and was residing in the family home at King Street, Sileby, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Mary, Ada, Maggie and Julia, born 1905 in Sileby, Leics. The War Diary for today records. BEUVRY. Bathing and interior economy during the morning. Equipment and helmets cleaned for inspection by General Officer Commanding the following day. Weather good. At 2.15pm practice ceremonial on assault course in the village. Enemy quiet.
