The War Diary for today records that the Battalion were in the Front Line Dickebusch sector. Very quiet night. Casualties 1 other rank killed (D Company), 1 wounded. Trenches taken over in a very bad condition. Any movement by day quite impossible owing to the proximity to Mont Kemmel from which the whole of the area occupied by the Battalion could be clearly observed. Conditions generally wretched. Disposition of the Battalion as follows:- B Company (right front) N.9.c. 00.25 to N.15.b. 35.95. D Company (left front) N.9.d. 45.00 to N.10.c. 10.50. C Company (support) 1 platoon close support to B Company. 1 platoon close support to D Company. 1 platoon and Company HQ’s N.8.b. 50.50. A Company (reserve) about N.3.a. 20.00. Battalion HQ N.2.a. 10.10. Day passed quietly, strength in trenches 17 officers and 491 other ranks. All available men carrying to front lines. Not much work on line possible.
