LOCAL CASUALTIES
Pte. C. Cramp (Shepshed) of the West Yorkshire Regiment, has died of wounds.

Son of Mr and Mrs George Cramp, Ring Fence, Shepshed, he joined up on 13/01/1917 aged 17.

05/03/1917 posted to the Leicestershire Regiment, no. 38283.
08/08/1917 transferred to the 19th Training Reserve Battalion at Brocton Camp, Staffordshire, as no. TR/6/2474.

01/11/1917 transferred to the 52nd Durham Light Infantry, where he was trained as a 'rifle bomber'.
09/01/1918 transferred to the 21st Yorks Battalion (a service battalion) as no. 53257. Less than 3 weeks later he was wounded in action, on 06/04/1918 (NOT 5th), and he died from wounds later that day. He was buried in Athies Communal Cemetery Extension.
