He was the grandson of John Carpenter a domestic gardener, born 1849 in Harborough Magna, Warwks., and his wife Mary, born 1844 in Shawell, Leics. Frank was born in 1895 in Sheepy Magna, Leics., his uncles were, John C., born 1882 and Thomas A., born 1890, both his uncles were born in Sheepy Magna, Leics., in March 1901 Frank was residing in the family home of his grandparents at Top Yews, Sheepy Magna, Leics. In April 1911 Frank was employed as a farm labourer and was residing at Sheepy Magna, Leics., this being the family home of his grandparents.
