He was the son of George Brammage a shoe manufacturer, born 1868 in Melbourne, Derbys., and his wife Edith, born 1871 in Glooston, Leics. George Harry was born in 1895 in Anstey, Leics., his siblings were Elsie F., born 1894 in Anstey, Leics., and Leonard, born 1899 in Leicester, in March 1901 the family home was at 3, Wilberforce Road, Leicester. In April 1911 George was employed as a shoe clicker and was residing in the family home at 95, Cooper Street, Leicester, together with his father, now a shoe finishing department foreman, his mother and siblings, Elsie, Leonard and Albert, born 1904 in Leicester. The War Diary for today records. HILL 37. Shelling not quite so heavy as previous days. Periods of comparative quiet. Back areas bombarded with high explosive and gas shells at night. 2nd Lt. L. ROWBATHAN died of wounds, 2nd Lt. S. W. G. TALLIS wounded.
