He was the son of John Burt a lime quarry worker, born 1849 in Farthingstone, Northants and his wife Ann, born 1850 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., in April 1881 the family home was at 44, North Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics., where they resided with their children, James, born 1875, Louisa, born 1877 and Eliza, born 1880, all the children were born in Barrow upon Soar, Leics. In the April, May, June quarter of 1897, Henry’s father John is recorded in the Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire deaths registration district as having passed away. In March 1901, Henry who was born in 1893 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., was residing in the family home at Industry Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics., together with his stepfather Thomas Oliver a hosiery trade worker, born 1834 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., his mother and siblings, Rose Emma Burt, born 1881, Joseph Burt, born 1883 and Thomas Burt, born 1887, all his siblings were born in Barrow upon Soar, Leics. In April 1911 Henry was employed as a hosiery trade worker and was residing in the family home at Industry Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics., together with his stepfather, now a framework knitter, his mother and sister Rose. Henry was baptised on the 13th August 1893 at Barrow upon Soar, Leics. Henry died of wounds in Hospital at West Hartlepool, County Durham, he was buried on Saturday 25th January 1919 with Full Military Honours, the Reverend T. Stone officiating.
