He was the son of John Walker, a bread baker, born 1875 in Nottingham and his wife Alice, born 1875 in Loughborough, Leics. Wilson Walker was born in 1892 in Derbyshire, he had one sibling, a brother George W., born 1898 in Loughborough, Leics., in March 1901 he was residing at 123, Parliament Street, Derby, this being the family home of his paternal grandparents, Henry Walker, an iron moulder, born 1847 in Staffordshire and his wife Charlotte Walker, born 1849 in Darlaston, Staffs., together with their children, Wlson’s paternal uncles and aunt, John Walker, a bread baker, born 1875, Gertrude Walker, a shirt maker, born 1880 and Harry, a bread baker and confectioner, born 1884, the latter three relatives were all born in Nottingham, and Frank Walker, a bread baker, born 1886 in Derby. In April 1911 Wilson was employed as a painter and was residing at 127, Station Street, Loughborough, Leics., this being the family home of his widowed paternal grandmother Charlotte, also residing in the family home was his married paternal aunt, Gertrude Antill, and her children, Wilson’s cousins, Florence Annie Lucy Antill, a schoolgirl, born 1903 and Harry Antill, a schoolboy, born 1905, both children were born in Derby. On Friday February 2nd 1917 The Leicester Mercury published the following article under the heading. “THE ROLL OF HONOUR” - LOCAL MEN IN THE CASUALTY LISTS. The following local casualties are reported under various dates. All are Private’s except where otherwise shown. The town shown against each soldiers name is the home of his next-of-kin. KILLED. SHERWOOD FORESTERS. Walker, 29013 Acting Sergt. W. (Loughborough).
