Edwin was educated at Loughborough Grammar School, Leicestershire, and on leaving became a Cashier at the London City and Midland Bank. He joined the Inns of Court O.T.C. in August 1915, and was afterwards attached to the London Regiment. He served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from January 1916, being reported missing after the fighting at Bullecourt on the 15th June 1917, and was assumed to have been killed in action on or about that date.
