He was the son of Francis Henry Mee, a carpenter, born 1866 in Loughborough, Leics., and his wife Elizabeth Mee (nee Clarke, married 1889), a needle worker, born 1872 in Nottingham. George Walter F.,was born in 1898 in Quorn, Leics., his siblings were, Frank, born 1891, Elsie, born 1893 and Eva, born 1895, the latter three siblings were all born in Loughborough, Leics., and Olive, born 1896 in Quorn, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 68a, Pinfold Gate, Loughborough, Leics. In April 1911 George was employed as a boiler house stoker and was also engaged in part time school work, he was residing as an inmate at Desford Industrial School, Desford, Leics. He served as Moor, George Walter.
