The War Diary for today records. TRENCHES 99 – 101. Enemy artillery were very active throughout the day. About 11.00am some very heavy shells were dropped in the vicinity of the CANDLE FACTORY, but very little damage was done. At 1.40pm 4 15cm trench mortar bombs fell in rear of trench 98, and again at 7.15pm the enemy fired 6 heavy trench mortar bombs which fell in rear of trenches 98 – 101. Our working parties were engaged in building up the parapets and parados which were damaged by the enemy artillery yesterday.
