He was the son of Albert Bramley a machinist’s labourer, born 1859 in Loughborough, Leics., and his wife Elizabeth, born 1869 in Loughborough, Leics. John Henry was born in 1893 in Loughborough, Leics., his siblings were Sarah Ann, born 1889, Albert, born 1893, Elsie May, born 1895, Arthur, born 1898, Gertrude, born 1900 and Robert Baden, born 1901, all his siblings were born in Loughborough, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 65, Wellington Street, Loughborough, Leics. In April 1911 John was employed as a brickyard labourer and was residing in the family home at 78, King Street, Loughborough, Leics., together with his father, now a general labourer, his mother and siblings, Sarah, Albert, Elsie, Arthur, Gertrude, Ida, born 1903, Winnie, born 1905, Wilfred, born 1907 and Frederick Ernest, born 1909, the latter four siblings were all born in Loughborough, Leics. His father Albert also died. The War Diary for today records that the Battalion were resting in Billets in Bohain. Day spent in checking mobilisation kit etc. and reorganising. HV shelling early morning near Battalion HQ’s. Baths in afternoon -?- with Battalion. Battalion HQ’s Major G. V. Herring Cooper, Captain G. N. Wykes, Captain E. H. Granger R.A.M.C., Lieutenant R. W. Bennett, 2nd Lieutenant L. G. Arnold, A Company Captain F. H. Jeeps, 2nd Lieutenant Sadler, 2nd Lieutenant Stewart, 2nd Lieutenant Dennis, B Comapany Lieutenant Collis, 2nd Lieutenant Raynes, 2nd Lieutenant Burns, 2nd Lieutenant Cooper, C Company Lieutenant G. Colborne Smith, Lieutenant F. R. Mee, 2nd Lieutenant Ponting, D Company Captain G. N. Grossmith M.C., Lieutenant S. F. McKay, 2nd Lieutenant Passmore. No casualties recorded.
