He was the son of Joseph Boyer a boot maker, born 1863 in Nottingham and his wife Sarah, born 1867 in Quorn, Leics. Percy was born in 1899 in Quorn, Leics., his siblings were Florence, born 1894, Lilian, born 1896 and William, born 1897, all his siblings were born in Quorn, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Barrow Street, Quorn, Leics. In April 1911 Percy was a scholar and was residing in the family home at Station Road, Quorn, Leics., together with his father, now a boot maker’s dealer, his mother and siblings, Florence, Lilian, William and Joseph, born 1906 in Quorn, Leics.
