Stafford Rupert Mansfield was born in Queniborough in 1891 son of butcher Stafford (Snr) and Annie Kate Mansfield. He emigrated to New Zealand and Australia in 1912. As Private 779 he served with the 12th Light Horse (ANZAC) Regiment at Gallipoli and through the Palestine Campaign fighting at Beersheba and the captures of Damascus and Jerusalem. He died in Auburn, NSW Australia in 1952
