He was the son of James Glover, an agricultural labourer, born 1837 in Thrussington, Leicestershire and his wife Sarah Glover (nee Lowe, married in the 1st quarter of 1863 in the Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire district), born 1840 in Queniborough, Leicestershire. William was born in the 3rd quarter of 1877 in Queniborough, his siblings were, George, a farm servant, born 1867, John, a schoolboy, born 1869, Elizabeth, a schoolgirl, born 1871, James, a schoolboy, born 1873, Lydia, a schoolgirl, born 1874 and Samuel, a schoolboy, born 1879, all his siblings were born in Queniborough, in April 1881 the family home was in Queniborough. In April 1891 William was employed as a farm servant and was residing in the family home at Mere Lane, Queniborough, together with his father an agricultural labourer, his mother and siblings, Thomas, a bricklayer’s labourer, born 1865 in Queniborough, George, an agricultural labourer, John, a railway labourer, Lydia, a hosiery trade stocking maker, Samuel, a schoolboy and Harry, a schoolboy, born 1883 in Queniborough, also residing with the family was Harriet Emily Lowe, a schoolgirl, born 1882 in Queniborough. In March 1901 William was absent from the family home in Mere Lane, Queniborough, residing there was his father, a general labourer, his mother and siblings, Thomas, a general labourer, James, a general labourer and Harry an under groom, also residing in the family home was William’s niece Hilda Toone, born 1899 in Queniborough. In April 1911 William was employed as a general labourer and was residing in the family home at Queniborough together with his wife Harriet Elizabeth Glover (nee Lowe, married in the 4th quarter of 1908 in the Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire district), born 1888 in Queniborough, and their children, Alick, born 1910 and Edna, born 1911, both children were born in Queniborough. William also had an elder sister, Mary Ann, born 1864 in Queniborough. William’s widow married Joseph Lowe, they resided in Mere Lane, Queniborough.
On Friday September 27th 1918 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “QUENIBOROUGH.” – MEMORIAL SERVICE. – A memorial service was held in the Parish Church on Thursday evening for Captain C. H. Woodhouse and 15 others from the parish who have fallen in the war, viz. Lieut. Brooks, Lieut. T. Fox, Edward Lowe, Alfred Lowe, William Glover, Sydney Crawford, Max Crawford, Percy Ogden, Charles Stiff, Harold Mansfield, Richard Mansfield, Isaac Bursnell, William Cook.
