He was the son of William Eggleston, a farmer and local preacher, born 1862 in Oldbury, Worcestershire and his wife Mary Eggleston (nee Derrick, married on the 25th December 1885 in Holy Trinity Church, Wysall, Nottinghamshire), born 1864 in Wysall, Nottinghamshire. Albert Edward was born in the 4th quarter of 1892 in Wysall, his siblings were, Mary Alice, born 1889, John Joseph, born 1891, Clarence Herbert, born 1894 and Frances Matilda, born 1896, the latter four siblings, were all born in Wysall, James Henry, born 1900 in Widmerpool, Nottinghamshire, in March 1901 the family home was at Loughborough Road, Hoton, Leicestershire. In April 1911 Albert was working on the family farm, and was residing in the family home at Hoton, together with his father, a farmer, his mother and siblings, John, working on the family farm, Clarence, working on the family farm, Frances and James, a schoolboy. Albert had one older sibling, William Arthur, born 1887 in Wysall. Albert died in Partrington District Hopital.
On Friday October 20th 1916 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “DISTRICT WAR ITEMS.” – SOLDIER’S FUNERAL AT HOTON. Private A. E. Eggleston, of the Leicester’s has died in England of pneumonia. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Eggleston, farmer, of Hoton, and joined the army only about a month ago. His body was brought to his parent’s home, and on Friday afternoon the funeral took place at Hoton, with full military honours.
