He was the son of John Allett a Miller, born 1846 in Brooke, Rutland and his wife Emma, born 1854 in Manton, Rutland, in 1891 the family home was in Mill House, Brooke, Rutland. John was widowed and remarried Hannah, born 1877 in Brooke, Rutland. Bertie Harold was born in 1891 in Brooke, Rutland, his siblings were Julia, born 1887, Cecil, born 1890, Eva, born 1892 and Jessie Matilda, born 1899, all his siblings were born in Brooke, Rutland, in 1901 the family home was at Mill House, Brooke, Rutland. Prior to enlistment he was a miner. He embarked for France in June 1917, and was wounded on the 7th March 1918. He was in hospital until the 11th June, he then rejoined his regiment on the 20th June and finally embarked for France on the 4th September 1918. He was killed by a bullet. His brother Cecil also fell.
