He was the son of Tom Burton a bricklayer’s labourer, born 1869 in Whissendine, Rutland and his wife Elizabeth Burton, born 1867 in Naseby, Northants. Walter Adnitt was born in 1895 in Oadby, Leics., his siblings were, Phyllis Jane, born 1898 and Hilda Jesse, born 1901, both his siblings were born in Oadby, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at King Street, Oadby, Leics. In April 1911 Walter was employed as a shoe trade worker and was residing in the family home at Mount Road, Oadby, Leics., together with his widowed father and siblings, Phyllis and Jesse.
