He was the son of Arthur Cave a shoe trade finisher, born 1864 in Leicester and his wife Emma a shoe trade machinist, born 1865 in Leicester. George William a shoe trade clicker, was born in 1897 in Leicester, his siblings were, Harry, born 1885, James, born 1895, Joseph, born 1897 and Walter, born 1899, the latter four siblings were all born in Leicester, Leah, born 1901, Trevena, born 1902, Frank, born 1905 and Marriott, born 1907, the latter four siblings were all born in Oadby, Leicester, and an adopted sister, Winifred Coaton, born 1909, in Leicester, in April 1911 the family home was at London Road, Oadby, Leics. George died of pneumonia. His brother’s Harry and James both fell in action.
