He was the son of James and Mary Elizabeth Perkins. The War Diary entry for the 29th April 1918 records. BRANDHOEK, H.7.c.7.9. At 5.00am Battalion ‘Stood To’ remained at Battle Stations in VLAMERTINGHE – HALLABAIT Line. Between 5.30am and noon Camp heavily shelled. 1 other rank killed in action and 14 wounded. 2 other ranks to hospital sick. At 8.15pm Companies ‘Stood Down’ returned to HOLLIS CAMP G.12.a.6.3. to which Transport and HQ had moved on account of shelling.
