The War Diary for today records. 3.00am. 110th Brigade were withdrawn to the vicinity of LUTHERNAY FARM. 8.00am. Orders received to withdraw to PEVY and form Divisional Reserve. On approaching PEVY the village was found to be occupied by the enemy who had worked round to the left flank. All details were in consequence diverted to high ground east of PROUILLY. 9.30am. Line formed on high ground above PROUILLY, touch was obtained with 62nd Brigade on left and eventually a gap on right was filled by 64th Brigade and the composite Battalion from 110th Brigade. 4.00pm. Continual pressure from west and south west forced a further withdrawal to south bank of VESLE. Here a further composite Battalion was formed under Officer Commanding 7th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT with orders to hold south bank of the VESLE from the -?-. 1 side west of MUIZON for a direction of about 800 yards. 6.30pm. Picquets established along river line and touch obtained with 62nd Brigade on left and (considerably later) 64th Brigade on right. Night passed quietly.
