He was the son of George Austin a General Labourer, born 1871 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire and his wife Laura, born 1872 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. George Henry was born in 1893 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, his siblings were, Samuel E., born 1895, Catherine A., born 1897 and Laura A. M., born 1899, all his siblings were born in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. In March 1901 the family home was at 2, Pear Tree Yard, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, being situated in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Melton Mowbray St. Mary. In April 1911 George was employed as a Fram Labourer and was residing as a boarder at 2, Pear Trees Yard, Timber Hill, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. he later married and became the husband of Annie B. Austin, he left a son. George died from influenza and pneumonia in Ripon Military Hospital.
