He was the son of Hercules Brown a master draper, born 1844 in Syston, Leics., and his wife Sarah C., born 1844 in Louth, Lincs. Percy Dunington Brown was born in 1880 in Mansfield, Notts., his siblings were, Harold G., born 1877 in Gainsborough, Lincs., Leonard, born 1878 in Mansfield, Notts., and Winifred, born 1886 in Leicester, also residing with the family was his widowed maternal grandmother, Hannah C. Gibson, born 1809 in Toynton, Lincs., in April 1891 the family home was at 6, Upper Tichborne Street, Leicester. In March 1901 Percy was employed as a draper’s assistant and was residing as a boarder at High Street, Brackley St. Peter, Brackley, Northants. In April 1911 Percy was employed as a drapery shop assistant and was residing as a boarder at 46 & 47, Kingsbury Street, 48 & 1, Perrins Hill, Marlborough, Wilts.
