Source: Leicestershire War Memorials Project. Alfred was born in 1922 in Melton Mowbray and was the son of Mark and Mary Ann Shuttlewood. He originally enlisted with the Leicestershire Regiment in 1938, and transferred to the Green Howards on 8th May 1942.
