He was the son of William Lowe, a printer, born 1870 in Melton Mowbray, Leics., and his wife Elizabeth Lowe (nee Brown, married Q2 1892 in the Melton Mowbray, Leics. district), born 1872 in Gaddesby, Leics. Frederick William was born on the 22nd June 1899 in Melton Mowbray, Leics., his siblings were, Mabel Esther, born 1893 and Walter Wilson, born 1897, both his siblings were born in Melton Mowbray, Leics., also residing with the family was a relative, William Knight, born 1889 in Melton Moiwbray, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 10, Stafford Avenue, Melton Mowbray, Leics. In April 1911, Frederick was a schoolboy and was residing in the family home at 10, Stafford Avenue, Melton Mowbray, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Mabel, a draper’s clerk, Walter, a clothier’s errand boy and Horace Arnold, a schoolboy, born 1906 in Melton Mowbray, Leics. Frederick enlisted on the 24th July 1917 and embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force in France on the 2nd April 1918, joining his unit, the Hawke Battaion on the 7th April 1918 and serving with this unit until the 3rd September 1919 when he was admitted to the 149th Royal Naval Field Ambulance, being transferred to the 1st Casualty Clearing Station at Ligny, France where he died from pneumonia at 10.30 in the evening of the 4th April 1919.
