Source: Leicestershire War Memorials Project. Leonard David Payne was the son of Edna Mary Payne.
He was one of 44 crewmen of the HMS Karanja who lost their lives when their ship was bombed and sunk off the coast of Bougie, Algeria, on 12th November 1942.
